Product Descriptions

Fumasep® FKS-PET-130 – PET-Reinforced Cation Exchange Membrane

The FKS-PET-130 is a cation-exchange membrane reinforced with PETfilm and a thickness of approximately 130 µm. It features low electricalresistance, high selectivity, and exceptional mechanical strength, ensuringstable performance in acidic and neutral pH environments (pH 0–8). Thismembrane is particularly suited for demineralization, desalination, and acidrecovery via electrodialysis. Delivered in a dry, light crème-colored form, it demonstrates excellenthandling stability and minimal dimensional swelling.

Fumasep® FKB-PK-130 – PK-Reinforced Cation Exchange Membrane

The FKB-PK-130 is a cation-exchange membrane with PK reinforcement, designed for both acidic and caustic environments (stable even in 4 M KOH). With a thickness of 110–140 µm, it combines low resistance and superiorOH⁻ blocking capability, making it ideal for electrodialysis and bipolarmembrane electrodialysis applications. Delivered as a brown dry foil, it offers high mechanicaldurability and chemical resistance, providing long-term operationalreliability in diverse electrochemical systems.

Pretreatment:

Fumasep FKS-PET-130 – PET-Reinforced Cation Exchange Membrane

The membrane is delivered in H+ form and dry form. Depending on application and cell design, assembling ispossible in dry form (without pretreatment) or wet form. For optimum performance it is recommended to rinse themembrane in NaCl solution (e.g. 0.5 M NaCl solution at T = 25 °C for 24 hrs) to remove any additive from themembrane. Place the membrane sample between stabilizing meshes/spacers in order to avoid curling. Do not letthe membrane dry out since micro-cracks may likely occur during shrinkage.
